Call me crazy, I realize we’re in the dead of winter and it’s currently 17°F (that’s -8°C for you fellow scientists and non-Americans who prefer the metric system)…but I crave frozen things in the winter. I always have. Yesterday, I had an ice cream sandwich for dessert..that’s right! And of course, we have to remember that not everybody reading this blog is experiencing the same weather I am… like those of you south of the equator…you’re in summer and you need refreshing treats! So here’s a super easy, super tasty, and gluten-free treat! Lemonade Sorbet…it can’t get any simpler or refreshing! It comes out very fluffy and lemon-ice like! If you use store-bought lemonade (making this fall into the DF category), you don’t even have to squeeze lemons or sweeten (kind of like those boxed foods that say, “just add water”..this could be “just add vodka”!! 🙂
Ingredients:
2-4 C lemonade (store bought, like Newman’s Own..or homemade), sweetened to your liking with nectar or sugar; I say 2-4 C of prepared lemonade depending on how much your ice cream maker can hold!
1-2 shots vodka
Directions:
Mix lemonade and vodka together. Pour into ice cream maker and freeze according to manufacturer’s instructions. Enjoy!
Happy Freezing!
OO! with vodka even! Have two for me, will you?
Cheers! (hiccup)
oh looks great, i’m in Australia and it’s sweltering down here- frozen treats are always appreciated!
Have a fantastic day
That sounds great! And right now I could store it in my garden :p
As soon as I’m back in my own place again with all my cooking equipment I’ll be trying out a few of your sorbet recipes. They look so good.
Us Aussies use lemonade to refer to something totally different to lemonade in the U.S. e.g. sprite is like what we call lemonade and strangely does not include lemons! What went wrong where?
Will need to find a recipe for American lemonade and give this a try.
Good to know Jewel – it wouldn’t have occurred to me that lemonade could me anything other than sweetened lemon juice. I’ll get a recipe posted for you post-haste! But if you can search in the refrigerated section of your market (where they OJ and other ready-made juices are), that’s where you’ll probably find some American lemonade too. I like Newman’s Own – which is what I tested this recipe on when I used “pre-made & pre-sweetened” lemonade.
